St Paisius of Mount Athos (1924–1994) said that the Church in Britain will flourish to the degree that it venerates its pre-Schism Western saints. It has therefore been a blessing to have painted over a hundred of these saints’ icons. I try to incorporate stylistic elements from their culture and time, such as in the lettering, raiment, or the iconographic style of the time, such as Celtic or Romano-British.
